Story

The Nook was opened in 2025 by me, Katie Krivolavek! I am mom of three and life-long child care professional. I received my degree in Applied Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from the University of Kansas in 2006.

I went on to become an elementary school teacher and taught in Lincoln Public Schools from 2009-2012, where I earned a Junior Achievement Teacher of the Year award in just my 2nd year of Teaching. I then left the field to be a stay at home mom when my oldest was born in 2012. From 2015-2025 I owned KidsPark of Lincoln. 

In 2025 I decided to branch out on my own to create a center that was uniquely Nebraska! Bringing my mid-west mom values and decades of experience, The Nook was founded to meet the needs of Lincoln's families. 

Our concept is rooted deeply in play, a value I cherish deeply and believe to be the foundation for building healthy, smart, and balanced lives! Although we are just getting started with The Nook, I have decades of experience working with children, teaching, and parenting.
